If you have extended health benefits or have been injured as a result of an automobile accident, then you will likely have your treatment paid for. If you are using extended health benefits, check the details of your coverage in your Extended Health Manual, or speak with your Human Resources department. For your convenience, we can now bill directly to most insurance companies.
No referral is necessary to participate in physiotherapy treatment. However, patients are advised to check the details of their extended health benefits as some plans may require a physician’s referral in order to get treatment costs reimbursed.
At your initial visit, your physiotherapist will conduct an assessment and a thorough physical evaluation. This will be directly followed by treatment so you can immediately benefit from your experience.
Treatment itself can vary depending on the condition that you are presenting with. This may involve education on your injury and how to optimize recovery, manual therapy (hands on treatment), modalities (e.g. ultrasound treatment, acupuncture), and an exercise program.
We ask our patients to wear clothing appropriate to the type and area of injury. Shorts and a t-shirt or tank top is usually sufficient.
Bring any test reports or other medical documentation that is relevant to your condition to your appointment. Please also bring your extended health benefits card as we may be able to directly bill your insurer for your visit.
If your condition is related to an auto accident, we require your case manager’s name and contact information, your claim number, and extended health benefits information.
If you feel your problem is related to any accessories, you may wish to bring those with you. Our physiotherapists sometimes find it useful to analyze specific footwear, backpacks/bags, photos of your work station, etc…
We ask that you please arrive 15 minutes early to complete your intake forms.
No. Most patients do not require any imaging. We will perform a full examination of your problem and only recommend imaging if it is required. If you already have imaging, bring the results with you to your first appointment.
